Ookko nää …? – Oulu – a state of mind

OULU – Heimatstadt unserer Mama. Hier ist sie aufgewachsen. Hier hat sie unseren Vater kennengelernt. Spricht man: O-u-lu.

Oulu Finnland: Welcome!

Die Innovationsstrategie lautet: Oulu inspires: Creativity, courage, community spirit, tolerance.
Fremde werden hier so begrüßt: „Welcome to Oulu! On behalf of our community of 190 000 people, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the City of Oulu, Finland. Oulu combines Northern hospitality, nature and culture with modern technology. Oulu values education, research and innovation and we are extremely pleased to welcome everyone to contribute to these dynamics. I hope that you will have time to explore the Oulu region, make new friends, exchange ideas and feel at home in Oulu. – Mayor Matti Pennanen. „

„Oulu is a state of mind“, heisst es auf der Internetseite der Stadt. The strategic vision of the City of Oulu is to provide its residents with the most advanced services in Finland. (…) Enthusiasm springing from a working environment of inspired individuals enables renewal as well as success in global competition. (…) Our energy and commitment to get things going, create a work-friendly environment and guarantee a pleasant and efficient working atmosphere reflects the unique, strong and positive Oulu attitude.“

Das spürt man. Die Dynamik ist allgegenwärtig. Eine Stadt im Aufbruch. Lebendig. Jung.

…von nun an dein state of mind?

  4. Wow. Lovely. We know Oulu quite good, because we have stopped there many times when coming from the North or when going to the North. We are just buying from there „Einzimmerwohnung“ for our second home.

I give here link to my old post showing Oulu when we made road trip to the North. Of course You can remove the link if You want so:

    North of Arctic Circle1.

This year I’ll make another post from Oulu and Nallikari.

    Happy weekend!

  5. Thank You asking, if I understand German. Well, yes and no. I mean that in school I learned German during three years. This means that I understand it yet today “quite” well, but not enough to blog in it. In our family my wife has learned / used German during 25 years. For example she has ordered from Germany weekly magazine called „Freizeit Revue“ which arrives to our home generally at Fridays. She love to fill crosswords from it for example.

We love to look at German “Krimis” from our TV twice a week which keep our German active. Sometimes we watch ZDF-channel also here in Finland. We love Germany and it is one of our favorite state in Europe. Also we have made many road trips to there, visited many places on our holidays. For example spending five days by the “Bodensee” and Mainau. When I was working, we flew many times to Frankfurt only to buy clothes during 10 years.

Also when in work, I was a member of huge IT-project and have to visit many times in Aachen during 2,5 years. It was wonderful time. I have faithful commentator in my blog from Hamburg. Her name is Michèle Legrand and her blog is called “ladyfromhamburg”. You should check her blog. Easy to find her blog, if You check comments from some of my newest posts for example.

To understand better my life, You should take a look at my:

    About me.

There are many photos from Germany also in my presentation. It would be nice if You could leave Your comment there.

    Viele Grüße. Matti.

    1. Kiitos for your answer! Yes I saw on your blog, that you are able to speak several languages! I wish I could speak Finnish better.
So you know my home-region Bodensee! Nice to hear! Happy weekend for you! 🙂

      1. We love Bodensee area. We stayed very near to Lindau and made from there road trips around it and of course walking tours. I checked many of Your posts and find the excellent. I tried to search if Nordic walking is known there, but I did not found. Do You know it?

Once more if You allow me to give link to my old post and to see Nordic walking in Mikkeli:

        Nordic walking.

It is popular here and what is the best its origins are from Finland.

        Einen sonntäglichen Gruß.

  6. Thanks! Tottakai tiedän! But i didn’t write about until now!
At the moment it’s snowing here, so better to go crosscountry-skiing than nordic walking 🙂 Schönen Sonntag! Grüße nach Mikkeli!
